Today was the last day to check out library books. All library books are due back to the Media Center by June 2. Field Day is June 2 in the afternoon. Students will wear their Fund Run shirts (if appropriate for the weather) and please bring a water bottle labeled with their name. If you're able to volunteer to run a game you can email Mr. Curtis here [email protected]. Pioneer Day is June 12 all day! Field Trip Permission Slips are due next Wednesday 5/31. Other supplies are requested by June 7th and also June 12. Please check HERE for the list of supplies. Here's what we're up to this week: Word Study - This week is the last week for regular words. The next two weeks will be spelling lists of the names of the 50 states (25 each week). Writing - We are finishing up our literary essays this week and will celebrate outside on Thursday! Math - This week students are finishing the geometry unit. They will learn about quadrilaterals and lines of symmetry. The Unit 8 test will be next Wednesday. Reading - This week students are finishing their historical fiction book clubs. We have a bunch of history enthusiasts in our class and I've received many questions about our history. Please embrace this curiosity by taking a trip to the library to get some nonfiction books or by supervising some research on the internet! Kidrex.org is a great kid-friendly search engine. Social Studies - We are wrapping up the West Region this week with a test on Friday. Scrapbooks will be due on Friday as well. Students have been planning our class trip ;) to Hawaii. We will be having a Luau on Wednesday to celebrate the end of our tour of the United States! Science - We will begin to study the Earth's surface and how it changes.
