Here's what we're up to this week! Word Study - New lists coming home today, tests on Friday Writing - We will wrap up the first literary essay this week and celebrate before the MStep. After the MStep we will write another literary essay based on a chapter book. Mon – Putting it all together Tues – Flash Draft Wed – Beginnings and Endings TH – Author’s Craft and Editing Fri – Using the Checklist Math - Mon – 7.8 Fractions to Decimals Tues – 7.9 Tenths and Hundredths Wed – 7.10 Compare Decimals TH – 7.11 Mixed Numbers Fri – 7.12 Zeros in Decimals Reading - This week students will start Historical Fiction Book Clubs. They'll make some group norms and study a bit about the time period that their book takes place. Science - This week we'll wrap up our Rock and Mineral Unit. Students will take home a study guide tomorrow and the test will be Friday.

I wanted to update you on some things happening around our classroom and Paint Creek.

We have a few updates and dates for you to be aware of. Tomorrow, April 18th at 6:30 is Paint Creek's Fine Art Night. All students will have work displayed and there are many activities to participate in. There is a blood drive at Paint Creek on Wednesday. You can drop in to donate blood or contact Kara Hill at 248.814.1724. Thursday at 7:35 is Donuts with Dad. Registration is required and ends tomorrow! Their first literary essay will be about a character from a short story they've read. Mon – Thought Prompts Tues – Push your Thinking Wed – Testing a Thesis Thurs – Types of Evidence - Stories Fri – Types of Evidence - Lists Math- Mon – 7.4 Equivalent Fractions Tues – 7.5 Simplifying Fractions Wed – 7.6 Compare Fractions (use common denominators) TH – 7.7 Line Plots Fri – Quick Quiz and Craft Reading - Next week we'll be starting our Historical Fiction unit. This week we'll wrap up some MStep prep, discussing different ways tests can ask the same question. For example, words like passage, text, selection, story, and article may be used to mean the same thing. Science - We are studying rocks! Students selected a special rock last week to study. This week students will identify minerals using a variety of features that make minerals unique. Students will also learn about different rocks like sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. |
