Happy last week of school! Can you believe it is already the end of the year? A couple of things about this week. We will be starting to clean out our lockers and desks so that your 4th grader can bring home all of their supplies. The last day for backpacks is this Thursday! Do not send your student with their backpacks on Friday. Our yearbook signing was today, so if you ordered a yearbook for your student, they received them today. This Friday, June 12th, is a our last day of school and a half day! Dismissal will be at 11:25am and report cards will be sent home. This week we are just wrapping up a couple of last minute things. We will finish our read aloud, The City of Ember. We will continue to discuss Economics and what we learned at Pioneer Day. We will continue to learn about different types of poetry and read from our poetry read aloud, Love that Dog. It has been a pleasure working with your students during the few short weeks that I have been here. They are such an amazing group and I am so proud of the growth I've been able to witness with each and every one of them. I hope you all have a fantastic and safe summer! Best wishes, Miss Wekwert Please enjoy pictures from field day and our Pioneer day field trip!

Happy June! It's amazing how quickly this school year has gone by. The class and I were talking today, and we came to the conclusion that, including today, we only have 10 days left of school! WOW! We still have a couple of things we need to get through before the year ends, so we are doing our best to stay productive and still have fun! Some upcoming dates of importance: Unit 8 Test - Wednesday, June 3rd Recorder Concert - Thursday, June 4th Common Assessment - Friday, June 5th Field Day - Friday, June 5th (Afternoon) Pioneer Day - Monday, June 8th Last Day of School - Friday, June 12th (Half Day) For field day, please have your 4th grader wear their green Paint Creek shirt that they received at the Fun(d) Run. The entire class will be wearing them together! Next Monday, June 8th, is Pioneer Day! Word Study - New lists this week. Our last week of Word Study! Our last Test will be on Friday. Writing - This week were are going to start going over poetry. It should be a quick little unit that I anticipate to be pretty fun! Math - We finished up all of unit 8 last week. There will be a Test over all of Unit 8 on Wednesday. We will use the next two days to review all that we've learned in this unit before we take the test. On Friday, we will be having our 4th and final Common Assessment. We will review our concepts on Thursday before the Test on Friday. Reading - We will be starting a new read aloud in class, The City of Ember by Jeanna DuPrau. We will also be reading some poetry to help us with our poetry unit for writing, Science - We had a BLAST at Moose Tree last week. We had the chance to go swamp dipping to find invertebrates and study them under microscopes. We got our hands dirty as we sifted through our swamp samples. We also learned about different kinds of food chains and why they are so vital! This week we will be learning more in depth about fossils and what's inside the Earth. Social Studies - We are now moving into our Economics unit which will give us a better idea of what economy is and what it's like in the state we live in. We are then going to start working on a few things for Pioneer Day to get us in the spirit for next Monday! Enjoy some pictures from our Field Trip to moose tree! |
